Remembering Richard

This site was created in memory of our Richard T Davis. Our loving husband, father and physician.

Story

Born in Boise, Idaho

AUGUST 2ND, 1968

Rick was born and raised in Boise, Idaho, fourth of eight kids to Owen and Mary Ellen Davis. He met his wife, Tami, in Boise and their education and career took them across the country to Kentucky, Nebraska, Nevada, California, and finally back to Idaho. Along the way they raised five boys: Ethan, Jacob, Noah, Miles, and Quinn.

Rick was a dedicated orthopedic surgeon who served the communities he lived in and relieved the pain of countless patients. His career included military service in the Air Force where he served in two tours overseas in Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom. He more recently practiced joint replacement and sports medicine at Saint Alphonsus in Fruitland and Nampa, Idaho, and Ontario, Oregon.

Rick was passionate about his hobbies and played just as hard as he worked. Since the 5th grade, he loved to snow ski, water ski, and mountain bike. His favorite getaway spot was Tamarack near Donnelly, Idaho where he would enjoy all of these activities with his family. He loved to share these pastimes with family and friends and spent many hours teaching others, spreading the love of these activities to all those around him.

Fewer people may know Rick also had a love of trees. Rick would often challenge his sons to identify a given tree when out and about (they rarely could). At the home he built in Fruitland, what started as a dirt lot now has over 100 trees that he planted. Those trees have and will continue to grow, serving as a token of the legacy he built, the lives he touched, and the friends and family who will cherish his memory forever.
